Designed by Marcio Kogan Architects, the Paraty House in Paraty, Brazil (located between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro) is a stunning assembly of 2 reinforced concrete boxes along the Brazilian coast.

One thing I’ve always admired about tropical & Mediterranean climates is the architectural possibility of blurring the interior and exterior spaces — something that isn’t so easy to achieve in northern cities. It happens, but it never has the same carefreeness.

According to Property Wire, Sam Zell is looking to start a real estate financing company in Brazil in order to capitalize on what he feels is one of the strong markets in the world:
“If you look at all of the facts, I don’t think there is a better environment in all the world than Brazil,” said Zell, who has also suggested that the country could surpass China in economic might in 30 years. [Property Wire]
Zell has long been bullish on Brazil because of its large population, rapid economic growth, and energy independence. He feels that the demand (by developers) for real estate financing has not yet been met in a ‘scalable’ way and he is working diligently to profit from that opportunity going forward.
Zell’s firm Equity International already has a significant presence in Brazil, as well as other emerging markets such as Mexico. By in large, he’s primarily interested in these types of markets and views mature markets such as the United States, Canada, Western Europe and Japan as having significantly less room for upside.
